Our Wedding Day

Our first date was on November 15th of 2013, at Bucks Bar in Minneiska, MN – where I waited for Courtney with a Yellow Rose in a freshly finished Bud light bottle. Courtney almost flaked out on this date, and I re-assured her that I was a “home run” and would be worth her time. After that night, we continued seeing each other for the next couple weeks and I even asked her to come Deer hunting with me one cold November Afternoon… I was expecting her to show up under dressed, and not prepared for the elements, so I picked a spot where we could park the truck and have a casual date from the comforts of the inside. However, when I picked her up- she was prepared and ready to sit outside in all of her hunting gear and Blaze Orange to match… I was so impressed that I knew then that this girl was one of a kind!

Courtney and I moved into the Reads Landing Cottage together in the summer of 2014 where we shared 2 wonderful years together. Courtney always told me that her dream would be to one day buy her Great-Grandmother Francis’ Farmhouse in Goodhue, MN, fix it up and bring back to life all of the memories that she had from her childhood so her children could experience them one day.

On September 4th, 2016- that dream came true. We worked very hard from September until Mid-October in order to rejuvenate our new home so that we could move in before the winter. We could not have done it without the help of our wonderful families. I purchased Courtney’s Wedding Ring when we finished the house. Fast-forward to Sunday, February 5th- this is when I realized that I couldn’t wait any longer. While Tom Brady was bringing the Patriots back from the largest deficit in Super Bowl History, I was out in the Barn with Courtney feeding our small herd at the C2 Ranch, when I got down one knee and finally popped the question.

Family tradition continues with the ceremony in Lake City, MN at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 2:30 PM. Corey and I are overjoyed to be having our wedding ceremony at St. Mary’s. This church holds more meaning to us than simply being the place I grew up celebrating Mass. A full Catholic mass will be held at the church. We invite everyone who wishes to witness our holy sacrament of marriage to attend.

Reception will be held at Lake Pepin Golf Course overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River Valley. The Lake Pepin Golf Course is owned by Courtney's Aunts and Uncles on the Schmidt side; it provides Lake Pepin as a backdrop with breathtaking views from sunrise to sunset.
Reception will start at 4 with a cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing to follow.

I knew Jason and I were going to get along well when both got on the topic of deer hunting. Such a great friend- and an even greater target for some casual hazing.

Nick M. was my college roommate and Co-Owner of Thug Mansion (what we called our College house). Nick’s sense of humor, intellect, and sheer kindness is unmatched- and I am privileged to call him a dear friend. Nick is genuinely a “good guy” and I know we’ll always be there for each-other, even though we live hours apart now. If Dave Matthews Band happens to play at the reception- we’ll know Nick had something to do with that…

Nick F and I go way back to the Delong Middle School days and beyond. I remember Nick from Little League baseball and figured at some point our paths would cross. We became closer throughout middle school and high school with sports and clearly shared a passion for hunting and the outdoors. Nick is a genuine friend, and I am thrilled to have him with us on the big day!

Shane is not only my future brother-in-law, yet I still consider Shane a good friend as well. He is outrageously funny, smart, hardworking and selfless. Anytime I need help with something, Shane is always willing to make himself available- that is a rare trait these days. We both enjoy hunting, cruising for Coyotes, or hanging out at the farm/with family. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better brother-in-law!

Cole was also one of the first friends that I made when I moved to the Wabasha/Lake City Area. Cole is Engaged to Courtney’s close neighbor and friend Hannah Lund, and was one of the first guys that I met from this area. Cole and I both share a passion for hunting, and we recently returned from Nebraska on a spring turkey hunt.

Tyler has been one of my oldest and dearest friends as well. We have traveled around the state/country playing summer baseball all the way back in Elementary and Middle School. He is the kindest, most sincere guy I know, and I wish I saw this guy more than I currently do!

Matt is friend of mine from the Plainview/Millville Area that was introduced to me by groomsman Jason Hoffman. Matt is close with Jason- so it was an easy friendship to forge- especially since we both constantly like to rip on Jason together. We both share a strong passion for hunting and Matt also was on the Nebraska Turkey hunt with myself and Cole.

Nate is the younger brother to Groomsman Nick M. I honestly wish Nate went to Winona with Nick and I so he could have been a permanent resident at Thug Mansion. Nate and I have developed a strong bond through introducing him to Archery hunting. We enjoy going out together and I hope one day to be with him when I harvests his first deer with the bow. We are so happy to have you bud, thank you for being a part of our day.
